So, you’re thinking about boudoir, yay! But where to do you start? First thing is first – research! You want to find an expert, and someone to take care of you and your experience. It’s just like window shopping. If you need new windows in your home, you’re probably not going to call a plumber (I know boudoir is more intimate than plumbing, but you get the idea here). As a Kalamazoo boudoir photographer, I want my clients to have the best experience possible and a huge part of that is having their perfect photographer. Boudoir is Intimate

Make sure you find someone who walks their clients through feeling comfortable being in little to no clothing. You want someone who will bring out your personality and show you that you are beautiful just the way you are.

Find someone who has experience with photographing all types of women to back it up. What you don’t want is a new photographer who needs to practice or runs a mini marathon every valentine’s day. You’ll get the best experience with someone who can speak to you, inspire you and lift you up along the way.

Safe and Comfortable

It’s not enough to have fuzzy blankets, pretty lingerie, and awesome hair and makeup… you need to feel COMFORTABLE. Truly and genuinely comfortable from the inside out. I want you to come in, relax, and feel like you are just hanging out with your girlfriends. You should feel safe to explore your sensuality as a woman and really reconnect with yourself. My goal is for you to leave the studio with your head held high, and a stronger sense of empowerment and purpose. Within my studio walls is love, acceptance, and non-judgement. We are breaking down any stereotypical “walls” and pre-conceived ideas of what is acceptable and what is not.  I fully embrace and celebrate the beauty in all our babes, all different body types, all different styles and personalities.  Everyone that comes through my studio doors is distinctly unique and because of that, there is no cookie-cutter way to provide the experience that is Boudoir.

Knowledge and Experience

From the time you book your session with me, you are completely guided. I send you a boudoir guide, a wardrobe guide, and a ton of self-love tips along the way to practically change your lifestyle. The best way to get there is communication. We take a deep dive with a questionnaire so we can tailor the session completely to you! I walk you through wardrobe for your body type and even will provide you real examples on what will look great for your body! I focus on building self-esteem and promoting self-awareness and acceptance even in those who feel unsure about their sensuality and their own beauty. This is a lifestyle shift, and you walk away with more than just pretty pictures. I value you and want you to value you too. I have studied and invested so much in education specially geared towards business and boudoir and I truly care about my client experience. Your journey just starts with me, but it never ends. You’ll always receive practical life tips and self-love tips because I want you continue this self-love for yourself.

During the session, you are completely guided as well with posing to ensure that we are highlighting and capturing the best version of you in the best way!

Trust the Photographer

Start first by seeing what others say are saying. A confident boudoir studio should proudly share testimonials on its website. Read stories from real clients and get a sense of the atmosphere, philosophy, and shooting style of the studio.

Get to know what your photographer stands for. What do they believe in? Do your values align? Do you know like and trust the person behind the camera?

I’m More Than Just Your Photographer

I am a friend, a teacher, and so much more. You are paying for someone who understands where you are standing. By that I mean, I used to be there. In a dark place of self-loathing and being unhappy with my appearance. I pulled myself out of that dark place a few different times and have been working towards loving myself ever since. It wasn’t easy, and it took a long time. I am so happy to share what I have learned and what I continue to learn every damn day.

Privacy:  

Privacy is of the utmost importance to me. Not only do I guide you through the experience but after your session as well. You can also rest easy knowing your products are being handled by boudoir photography ONLY labs whom I went the step further to have contracts with. You never know when you print your intimate photographs from Costco or target who’s hands they will end up in. (Please don’t ever print your products at these places btw)
