Let’s talk about self-acceptance. What is self-acceptance? Well, it’s acknowledging and appreciating all your positive and negative attributes. That’s right, you must address the negative, which can be a hard thing to do. The goal on a self-acceptance journey is to embrace every part of you and empower yourself through both the good and the bad. In my Michigan Boudoir Studio, accepting yourself is our goal! I want all my clients to love, honor and treat themselves with love and kindness. I would love to help you begin your journey to self-love without overwhelming you. Strong women don’t let the world push them around. Instead, they shape it as they please. They listen to their own intuition and feelings. How? Sit with your thoughts, talk to yourself just like you would a child. How are you feeling? What is making you feel off? Where is this stemming from?
Looking at and longing for others’ lives is so easy and accessible, yet so damaging. Stop comparing and focusing on the lack of things, when you can focus on everything your life has. Social media can be such a powerful tool, but it can also be a hindrance. Does following a person’s life make you feel a certain way? If you are not inspired by someone, STOP following them. If you find yourself constantly wishing you had what they have, STOP following them. Your brain will believe whatever you tell it. Focus on your own self and how you can show up for you first.
You’re not the same as everyone else around you, and that’s a GREAT thing. You have a special thing that you carry that no one else carries. If you have never taken the time to really analyze what it is that you bring to the table, now is the time to do so. It could be a skill that you have, one of your many characteristics, or even just your sunny attitude. Whatever it is that you have that makes you unique, you deserve to completely own it. No one can do you like you. So be unapologetically you!
Most people don’t sit with their feelings. They bury them away and push them down deep. They are left to manifest out in the physical world. People get sick and have disease. People just go about their business, riding the roller coaster that is their emotions, and never once stopping to wonder what is causing them to feel a certain way. If you want to be in control of the way that you feel and accept yourself, you need to understand how your emotions work. Which takes time and effort, but will give you a higher quality of life in the long-run.
Begin by writing down your emotions daily. You could journal, use an app, a mood tracker, or just make a note in your phone. Doing so will help you keep track of how you’re feeling on certain days and what it is that makes you happy.
I have said it a million times. I will say it a million times more. Everything starts with self-care. When you don’t make the time to truly look after yourself, you could find that you end up feeling run-down and a little neglected. That’s not okay, but luckily, there’s an easy solution to the problem. Make sure that you set aside at least half an hour to looking after yourself each day. Use that time as you wish. You could hit the gym for half an hour, go for a walk, treat yourself to a delicious meal, do your nails, dye your hair, or just take a nap. It’s up to you. What’s important here, though, is that this time is your time. It’s nobody else’s.
Your relationship with your body is crucial when it comes to self-acceptance. It’s no great secret that many women out there have somewhat turbulent relationships with their bodies. If that describes you, it’s time to take some action. Spend some time highlighting all the things that you love about your body.
My specialty is helping women appreciate their bodies and change their mindset. You can’t have one without the other and they go hand in hand.
My Boudoir sessions are focused on creating that journey of self-love which will branch out to all areas of your life.
